The introduction phase is a necessary and very important step before we can welcome a dog into the facility, especially when overnight stays are involved.
Before accepting a new guest, we always conduct an evaluation interview with the owners to start getting to know the dog. We then carry out short trial stays, lasting from 2 to 4 hours, which allow our staff to assess the dog’s characteristics, such as:
The dog’s temperament and their ability to share space with other guests.
The dog’s ability to adapt to the facility, ensuring their stay is not stressful for any reason.
Depending on each animal’s temperament, one or more short introduction stays may be required to help the dog calmly adjust to the new environment and new friends.
Superdog never accepts dogs that, during the evaluation phase, show aggression toward others or display signs of stress or tension caused by feelings of abandonment.
We want all our guests to feel well and be safe.
What is the purpose of introducing a dog to daycare?
The introduction, guided by an experienced dog trainer, is a necessary phase both to assess the dog’s temperament and determine the best way to manage them, and to help the dog get used to the daycare environment and start interacting with the other dogs present.
How many days are needed to introduce a dog to daycare?
The number of visits or days needed for a dog to feel comfortable in daycare depends on the dog’s temperament, age, and the habits they’ve developed over time. Not all dogs turn out to be suited for staying in daycare. Dogs that are not suited are not accepted to ensure the safety of the other dogs present and the well-being of the dog itself.
